September 6, 2010. On 17th October, Australia will have its first saint. Mary MacKillop, a nun of the Order of Santa Cruz who dedicated her life to serving the sick and elderly and to educating children will be canonized in Rome.
A month before this event, the social network XT3, and the University of Notre Dame in Australia, launched a video competition about Mary MacKillop.
It aims to make young people more aware of this future saint who is already a national icon, and to show that her message is still relevant.
Called "Looking for Mary" participants must make a video of two to three minutes with their video camera or cell phone.
The video should show what they like about the saint, her message for modern society or what it means to them.
All videos submitted will be shown on the site and XT3 users will be able to choose their favorite.
The 10 most popular will be presented to a jury composed of people from the film industry, artists and priests.
First prize is $ 5,000, second prize is $ 2,000 and a laptop will be given for the person who comes third.
The creativity of the participants will show how the work of Mary MacKillop and her message are still current today.
