During his resignation announcement, several bowed their heads reflecting on what had just happened. The environment inside the room was calm, but mixed with surprise and sadness, some more than others.
As they exchanged looks, they followed the Pope out the door, without applauding, not knowing how to react. They then began talking among themselves, exchanging opinions. But there were several who remained silent, unable to move, and deep in thought.
