WYD Rio di Janeiro 2013 increases presence in Twitter and Facebook

YoutubeApril 9, 2012. (Romereports.com) Organizers of World Youth Day in Rio visited  Rome to talk about all the preparations that come with the massive gathering. Along with the organizers, representatives from 100 countries were also there. The Director of Communication is priest Marcio Queiroz. To get ready for the ocassion, he says the group  brought a ten-foot replica of Brazil's Christ the Redeemer statue to Rome.

“We've delivered  the statue of Christ the Redeemer to the Vatican, to celebrate this event and the 80th anniversary of the statue. It's a gift, we want to give to the Pope, and to the Vatican.”

The communications director of Rio 2013 talked about the work that is being done to prepare for the next World Youth Day. He says the event will involve not only Brazil and Latin America, but really the entire world. That's why they already have an international team of 60 people ready to start working.

“We have more than 22 people working on our social networking sites. We're currently working in 21 different languages. The team is made up of young volunteers who are doing great work in raising awareness of the event  throughout the world with an online presence.”

One of the goals of the communication team  is to show the vitality and universal side of the Church. To continue with this mission, they're encouraging young adults to volunteer and inform the world, through social networking sites, about next year's World Youth Day in Brazil.
