July 1, 2014. The Council of Cardinals began their fifth meeting with the Pope at the Vatican. Starting today at Casa Santa Marta, it will end on Friday, July 4. The previous meetings were from 1 to 3 October 2013, 3 -5 December 2013, from 17 to 19 February 2014 and 28 to 30 April 2014.
Pope Francis met with the members of the Congregation for Catholic Education. During his remarks, the Pope focused on the importance of school as a place for encounter and dialogue, since Catholic schools also enroll non-believers as students.
"Catholic Education is one of the greatest challenges for the Church, which is committed to carrying out the New Evangelization, in a historic and cultural context that is in constant transformation.”
Pope Francis also highlighted the need to constantly train teachers. "You cannot improvise,” the Pope said. But he added that, "teaching is an act of love.”
