The theme of the event is 'Asian Youth: Wake Up! The Glory of Martyrs shines on You.'
The diocese of Daejeon has launched a welcome video shedding light on the thousands of Korean martyrs who were persecuted for their faith.
The five day event will be a chance for youths to rediscover the roots of their faith. It will also include several workshops, pilgrimages and of course prayer.
This will be the sixth Asian Youth Day. The first one took place in Thailand in 1999 and the last one in the Philippines in 2009.
Organizers expect 2,000 pilgrims this year, but it's clear that if Pope Francis decides to go, the number would multiply. If he decides to go, Pope Francis would be the first Pontiff to attend an Asian Youth Day.
