Not long ago, during a visit to a Roman parish, the Pope encouraged all Christians to read the Gospel in their free time.
"I also suggest you carry a small Gospel book with you, in your pocket or your bag. And when you have time, maybe while on the bus, whenever possible.”
The Pope took this idea very seriously. So on April 6th, during his Sunday Angelus, thousands of pocket sized Gospels, will be given out, for free, to pilgrims. They will include the four Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles and a special prayer. They will be handed out by volunteers, seminarians and the Sisters of Charity.
A similar scene happened back in November, when the Pope prescribed 'spiritual medicine' called 'misericordina.' The small box which was meant to resemble actual medicine, included a rosary, instruction leaflet and an image of Christ.
