The greatest multitudinous success of Benedictine XVI to date has been the 5th World Family Encounter, in July 2006, in Valencia, Spain. With extraordinary force the Pope defend before a million-and-a-half people the institution of the family against the attacks of certain media and secular institutions.

A true song of human love, fidelity, generosity and large families… in which grandparents serve, at one and the same time, as both memory and an example of faith.

Several renowned artists, including soprano legend Montserrat Caballé, gave the festivities a very special touch. There was also a spectacular display of fireworks, diverse activities for children, a sprawling fair highlighting family themes and a theological-pastoral conference on a wide range of topics pertaining to modern families.
