Before beginning, the pope reminded Christians that the prayer intention was for an end to the pandemic and for strength for everyone working to fight the coronavirus. It included doctors, nurses, authorities and security forces. He also asked prayers for the sick and their families.

On Sunday, March 22, after the Angelus, Pope Francis proposed that all Christians, not just Catholics, say an Our Father together on the Feast of the Annunciation.

He also invited Catholics to another moment of prayer. On Friday, March 27, the pope will give the Urbi et Orbi blessing, usually reserved for special occasions like Easter, Christmas and the election of a new pope.
