Stations of the Cross comes to World Youth Day Madrid 2011

Their artwork from the past four centuries will help celebrate the Stations of the Cross at the international gathering. The respective fraternities will bring 14 illuminated scenes depicting the final hours of Jesus and devotion commemorating the Passion. World Youth Day participants will be able to see stations normally only seen through the streets of Spain during Holy Week.Like Jesus being betrayed by Judas. This comes from Malaga.Or when Veronica wipes the face of Jesus, from Jerez de la Frontera. With this procession, youths can see faith-made art and faith through beauty. This artwork will also represent the thousands of processions carried out in Spain. World Youth Day organizers say it is not so much an exhibit of art as it is a way to pray in front of Spain?s popular treasures. The Stations of the Cross will start with the procession of the World Youth Day Cross, which will be carried by representatives from 14 countries where the Church faces difficulty and persecution. The stations will be held in a traditional manner, with bands playing music and fraternity members carrying the statues to the final designated place.ISBN
