Benedict XVI warns Europe not to forget Christian roots

Benedict XVI“Croatia’s culture has been deeply shaped by the Catholic faith; thus, together with other European nations it has a particular responsibility to promote the fundamental role of the family in education and social life.” The pope highlighted the vigil with young people which took place on Saturday night in the heart of Zagreb. Benedict XVI“During the evening Vigil in Jelačić Square, I invited young Croatians to seek Christ as the fulfillment of their quest for love and true freedom.” Reflecting on Croatia, Benedict XVI noted that Europe is called to care for and renew a culture deeply rooted in Christianity. Benedict XVI“In my address to the world of culture I spoke of the importance of renewing that humanism rooted in Christianity which can contribute much to the growth of a sound democratic system based on universal ethical values.” The pope thanked all Catholics for their prayers and said that every time the successor of Peter travels, the entire Church accompanies him.BS/AECTVJMBN
