Shrine for Mexican martyrs, saints and missionaries is underway

Over the years, the Catholic Church has named 26 Mexican saints, another 24 have been beatified. Most of them were from the city of Guadalajara. Some of them known as “Cristeros” died of religious persecution during the 1920?s. The construction began back in 2007 with funds donated for the most part by a wealthy Mexican family. ; From day one its been described as a work of charity and faith in honor of ; religious martyrs, missionaries, saints and consecrated virgins. The building will be about 20,000 square feet. It will also house charitable organizations, a clinic for those with limited resources, a nursing school and meeting rooms for conventions. KLH --GDPBN
