General Audience: Pope speaks on G20 meeting and All Souls Day

Benedict XVI“The 3rd and 4th of November - tomorrow and the day after tomorrow - the heads of State or government of the G20 will gather in Cannes to discuss the main problems connected with the global economy. I hope that the meeting will help to overcome the difficulties that, worldwide, hinder the promotion of a truly humane and complete development.”The Vatican recently published their own proposal to create a new “Global Public Authority”. It says the current system under the G7 and the G20 doesn?t accurately represent other countries with smaller economies.During the audience, the pope also spoke about eternal life as the Church celebrates All Souls Day on November 2. Benedict XVI“As human beings, we have a natural fear of death and we rebel against its apparent finality. Faith teaches us that the fear of death is lightened by a great hope, the hope of eternity, which gives our lives their fullest meaning.”Also during the audience, the pope greeted a crowd of Japenese pilgrims from Saint Paul?s High School in Tokyo.
