Angelus: Pope speaks on the Miracles of Jesus
From his balcony, Benedict XVI remembered how Jesus was rejected by those in his hometown of Nazareth upon his return. He was unable to perform any miracles there, aside from healing a few sick people.
Benedict XVI“The miracles of Christ are not a display of power, but signs of the love of God, which is made present where it encounters the faith of man.”
The pope then explained how the selected reading was meant to teach others how to open themselves to faith.
Benedict XVI“In today’s Gospel Jesus reminds us that if we live with an open and simple heart, nourished by true faith, we can recognize the presence of God in our lives and follow his holy will.”
The pope then blessed the pilgrims that had gathered and mentioned an inter-religious prayer service that was taking place at the former concentration camp of Majdanek, located in Poland. The pope expressed his closeness to the Polish pilgrims gathered, as well as those at the concentration camp.
