Seventieth Anniversary since death of martyr and saint Edith Stein

She was then received into the Discalced Carmelite Order as a postulant in 1934. She was later transferred by her Order to a monastery in the Netherlands to escape Nazi persecution, but was eventually captured. Today she is remembered as a saint in the Catholic Church. She was canonized by John Paul II in 1998 and is considered one the six patron saints of Europe. AERR-JM-PR
