Cardinal of Taiwan, Paul Shan Kuo-Hsi, passes away at 89

The media friendly Cardinal was well known in China's public eye, for constantly talking about ; the Catholic Church in communist China. ; He was also known for his work in inter-religious dialogue.

The Bishop emeritus of Kaohsiung was ordained a priest back in 1955. Years later in 1998, John Paul II made him a Cardinal.

With his death, the number of cardinals drops to 207. From those, 118 are currently eligible to vote in case of a conclave.
