On Anniversary of violence, Christians, Muslims, Jews call for peace from Sarajevo

Pope Benedict XVI met with members of Santâ??Egidio's board of directors before they departed for the meeting in Sarajevo. He also sent a message to participants, giving his best wishes.  

Bosniaâ??s war lasted from 1992 to 1995 and left some 100,000 people dead. The conflicted was pitted between the ethnic groups of  Orthodox Serbs, Catholic Croats and Muslims. Today relations remain tense. However, this annual meeting in Sarajevo by Santâ??Egidio helps the community to move forward and reconcile their past.
