Vatican Television premieres documentary on transition from Benedict XVI to Pope Francis

MSGR. CLAUDIO MARIA CELLI

President, Pontifical Council for Social Communication

"You have a DVD in your hands with runs through the last moments of the pontificate of Benedict XVI, moments that are historic. You also have in your hands the first images of Pope Francis' pontificate.

The documentary lasts 50 minutes. It includes interviews with Cardinals Sodano, Ravasi, Maradiaga and Comastri, who witnessed the moment when the Pope was asked if he accepted being the leader of the Church.

MSGR. DARIO VIGANO

Director, Vatican Television

"The Pope said, well according to Comastri, the Pope said, 'I am a great sinner, with trust in God's mercy and patience, with suffering, I accept.'

For now, the DVD will only be made available in Italian, through the Corriere della Serra newspaper. In a few weeks there will also be English and Spanish versions. It begins with the resignation announcement of Benedict XVI, and ends with the historical images at Castel Gandolfo of Pope Francis and Benedict XVI.
