Italian Cardinal Antonetti dies at 90, number of cardinals down to 205

Cardinal Antonetti was born in Romagnano Sasia in 1922. He began his career as a priest as a Vatican diplomat to several countries, including the United States, France, Lebanon and several countries in Latin America. He also led the Vatican department that funds the Roman Curia and maintains Vatican-owned properties, until his retirement in 1998. That same year, John Paul II created him a cardinal and appointed him as a delegate to the Patriarchal Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.With his death, there are now 205 members in the College of Cardinals, although only 113 are under 80, and eligible to vote in a conclave.RCarrRRNR-PR-U:VIC
