Clericus Soccer Cup Final: North American College vs. Mater Ecclesiae

MARTIN RODRIGUEZ North American College "We like to play hard, but we like to pray hard as well.â? Every practice, that's exactly what they do. CHRIS SEILER North American College "You have guys who have played college soccer and semi pro soccer to guys who played in grade school and have sort of played for fun every since.â? CHRISTOPHER BERNABE North American College "From Portland, from New York, all the way to Texas.â? Despite their different backgrounds, they all have one thing in common: they are all priests and seminarians at Rome's Pontifical North American College. But it's not all fun and games. The team, called "The Martyrs" is going up against the "Mater Ecclesiale" team on Saturday May 18th. The winner will be this year Clericus Cup Champion.   CHRIS SEILER North American College "Those who God calls to the priesthood are men, normal men who like to play sports, like competition.â? CHRISTOPHER BERNABE North American College "Wanting  to go out there and compete , wanting to go out there and go against your brother.â? They say sometimes what's most interesting isn't always the score board, but the lessons they learn on the field. CHRISTOPHER BERNABE North American College "So many times, my brothers humble me out here, with their great skills and I used to be so much better than I was, but now I have to confront my own humanity and weakness.â? They say it's here that they truly understand what John Paul II meant when he described sports as a school of virtue.   KLH MG -JM -PR u:SCar
