Mexican pilgrim accused of drug trading leaves jail

Last July 11th, the 23 year old teacher took a flight to Rio for WYD 2013. As her plane stopped over in Peru, she realized she was missing her passport. She flew back to Mexico and at the airport the airline forced her to take a suitcase that wasn?t hers. In it, police found 22 lbs of cocaine.

The young teacher was then detained in a maximum security prison. But in the meantime, authorities found CCTV footage of her leaving Mexico in the first place, with her own suitcase. So, the district attorney withdrew all charges against her. ;

Ángel de María has now left the prison and is back home in Veracruz, where she is trying to forget the incident. Somehow, she is trying to muster up courage to travel to Brazil and get a chance to greet the Pope.
