Would you like some art with your morning cappuccino?

This is the sound millions of Italians wake up to. Every morning, they have plenty of options to choose from.

ANDREA MENGONI

"There's of course classic coffee. Coffee macciato,' concentrated coffee, a short or long one and a combination of foam. Some add some cocoa and of course different type of cappuccinos.â?

Here at the Latteria Giuliani, just a few steps from the Vatican, cappuccinos get some added attention. This barrista says some mornings he sees coffee, milk, foam and chocolate more like art tools. Depending on the client's mood, and his own, he adds a special, artistic touch.

"If the person looks a bit mad, I try to make the person smile through my cappuccino designs. So the fact that a simple cappuccino can make a person smile, is a beautiful thing.â?

So things can range from the simple heart with a smiley face to more artistic designs like a chocolate paradise, full with palm leaves and even a person laying out on the beach.

"It really does depend on my mood. I can draw a heart with a smile, a devil face or even a vacation site.â?

And look alike designs is also his specialty. Andrea says it started off as a joke that turned into a hobby and eventually a daily part of his job. So now he designs not just morning cappuccinos, but in a way he takes part in kicking off people's day.
