Mark Mallett: Promoting the faith through music

Mark Mallett is a singer, author and he has his own online channel. On top of it all he has eight children.

He does a bit of everything. From promoting a Catholic summer camp to writing songs about John Paul II.

It was back in the year 2000 when he felt a direct call to promote his Catholic faith through his life and his music.

As a Canadian, he felt that calling even more, when World Youth Day was held in Toronto back in 2002.

Years ago he worked as a journalist, but he decided to leave it all behind to instead tour parishes throughout the U.S. with a guitar and Bible.

He also started a blog that eventually turned into a published book. Thousands keep up with him through his online channel 'Embracing Hope.'

Despite his busy schedule, he says he's not afraid of silence or even breaks.

Singer and writer

"So, sometimes, if a week or two, a month, or maybe a year, goes by, I think that's OK. Because is better, I think, to remain in silence listening than to fill up the world with empty and meaningless words.

In 2006 he met with Benedict XVI, and gave him a collection of his music.

When it comes to the future, he says he prefers to sing about his plans, which include his guitar, a video camera, his family and God.
