"My pleasure... It's been a privilege too.

The Prime Minister of the Bahamas was welcomed to the Vatican by Pope Francis. The visit comes after Perry Gladstone Christie attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings in Sri Lanka.

During their brief meeting, both leaders discussed topics like immigration and how the Catholic Church can help the country with issues like health care and education

The prime minister's wife and entourage also attended the meeting. Even though an interpreter helped carry along their conversation, the Pope did practice a bit of English.

"Thank you very much.

As a gift, the Prime Minister gave the Pope two books, one of art and another that commemorates the 40th anniversary of the islands independence from the UK.

In return, Pope Francis gave him an etched religious image.
