FIFA president showers Pope Francis with unique gifts

The Vatican constantly welcomes presidents from countries all over the world, but on Friday, it welcomed the president of one sport that ignites a passion unlike any other.

"I want to welcome you, I'm glad that you are here.

Pope Francis welcomed Joseph Blatter, the president of FIFA, the ruling body for national soccer federations.

During their upbeat meeting, he introduced the Pope to several FIFA officials, even joking around with a few.

"He needs to play a bit more sports.

The Pope's passion for soccer is well known, that's why Blatter had a series of gifts ready.

"The most important one is the ball.

"Without this you can't play.

He also brought along two personalized jerseys, in black and blue, with the Pope's name and the number 10 in the back.  He also gave him a medallion, and the mascot for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"We publish it each week.

But perhaps the most unique gift is this copy of the FIFA magazine, featuring an article on the Pope's beloved team, San Lorenzo di Almagro.

"For you we have made one, in Latin! Specially for the Vatican.

The last gift was a commemorative soccer banner with the Pope's name.

In return the Pope gave each of the participants a papal medallion. He also blessed one of the officials he joked with earlier, who's about to become a father.

And in case you're wondering, the word for soccer or football in Latin? Pediludum.
