WYD volunteers challenge the world to a dance competition
The French pop rock worship band, UNI'T, has created a song to raise excitment levels about the upcoming youth meeting in Krakow through a new challenge launched by the Local Organizing Committee of WYD 2016.
The WYD Challenge, started by the Krakow volunteers, asks four other organizations to create a dance to UNI'T's newest song, "World Youth Day is back for you.â? The four other groups are then given 48 hours to complete the challenge, to publish the dance on their social networks and challenge four other people, groups or pages to do the same.
FRED CARAMIA, UNI'T
"We created the song, "World Youth Day is Back for Youâ? thanks to a friend, Fr. Bruno L'Hirondel. One day he asked us to work on a song to make people want to go to World Youth Day. We were quickly happy and inspired to create the song, first of all in French, then in English.â?
The challenge has spread on social media with many people from Poland and Italy participating, including the sisters from St. Faustina's order.
In addition to hearing the song through the challenge on social media, the band will also play live on stage in Krakow.
ALEX CARAMIA, UNI'T
"We've never been to a World Youth Day. It's the first time for us. It's an honor to go and play on stage and visit Krakow. We are looking forward to it.â?
Their first album is titled "Ta Misericorde,â? meaning "Your Mercyâ? in English. They arranged for it to coincide with the Pope's Jubilee Year of Mercy and WYD in the hometown of St. Faustina, who is one of their greatest inspirations.
While "World Youth Day is back for youâ? is one of their only English songs, they want to write more after this one has taken off for the youth encounter.
VINCENT DELHOMME, UNI'T
"We are very glad and happy about our dance challenge on our song. It's groovy!â?
As for now, they will continue the challenge started by the WYD volunteers and they expect to find even more dancing videos of youth preparing for Krakow 2016 circulating on the Internet.
