LIVE: Congress on Francis' and Benedict XVI's ecology teachings at Catholic University of Costa Rica

An international symposium on Laudato si', organized by the Joseph Ratzinger Vatican Foundation and the Catholic University of Costa Rica will begin at 4 p.m., local Rome time.

With the motto, “The care of the common home, a necessary conversion to human ecology,” the meeting will run for three days, focusing on sustainable development. 

Those in attendance are the president of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís; the chancellor of the Catholic University of Costa Rica, José Rafael Quirós; and its rector, Fernando Felipe Sánchez. Also participating is Cardinal Marc Ouellet, Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi and Federico Lombardi S.J., president of the Ratzinger Foundation.
