LIVE: Pope Francis visits Pontifical Catholic University of Chile
Pope Francis speaks in front of hundreds of students and academics at 7:00 p.m.
The university was founded in 1888. Today, they are working on two projects inspired by the pope's teachings. The first is called “Mission Country,” and the second “Chapel Country.”
Mission Country aims for young Catholics to be able to bring the message of Christ to places far from Chile. The second has 500 volunteers and has a goal of building 16 chapels on the outskirts of different cities in Chile.
The university has also decided to create a new department dedicated to sustainable development (Laudato si').
