Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter meets Pope Francis

The youngest daughter of well-known civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. met with Pope Francis Monday morning.

The current Baptist minister, Bernice King, and Pope Francis shared a few words with the help of a translator.

Then, the native Georgian shared the gifts she brought for the pope.

“This is the work of Martin Luther King, different quotes. This is 'Why We Can't Wait' and 'Strength to Love.' This one here is a paper project compiling all of my father's correspondences until near the end. And this is the sixth volume that deals with his work of navigating the social Gospel. So it's called the 'King Papers Project.'”

“Thank you.”

It was a very pleasant meeting and Pope Francis also gave out a medallion to everyone who was present.
