Wim Wenders previews his new film starring Pope Francis

On the fifth anniversary of Pope Francis' election, German film director Wim Wenders previews the trailer of his new film with the pope as the main character.

“Pope Francis – A Man of His Word,” produced by Focus Features, is the first film in which the pope speaks about his pontificate.

Dario Viganò, the prefect of the Secretariat for Communications in the Vatican, came up with the idea. He proposed it to Wenders, saying let's not make a movie “about” Pope Francis, but rather one “with” him. Thus, the Vatican co-produces it.

Wim Wenders, nominated three times for the Oscars is the director and screenwriter. The basis of the film is it's a very personal conversation between the pope and the viewer.
