“Look, I'd hate to quote Scripture to a pastor, but do you remember Luke 12:48? It seems like you're the one much is being asked of this time.”

Sometimes all it takes is a spark. In the third installment of the “God's Not Dead” film series, creators aim to show viewers how to keep the flame of hope burning strong, even in the wake of tragedy.

Reverend Dave has his church vandalized and set on fire. Due to a lack of financial resources to have it restored, some people on the university campus where it's located call for its immediate demolition.

“Well, and there you have it. Both sides have totally fired up. Huge protest is planned for the weekend. This is 'tee'd up' for disaster. That's a sign of the times, isn't it? Everybody's yelling, nobody's listening.”

The story follows the pastor and his parishioners' quest to revive the rock of their lives, despite public backlash. The film's actors say many parallels can be found between “God's Not Dead: A Light In Darkness” and the current global landscape.

“Things are just so tense right now out in the world. I hope audiences see their part in it. It's time for everybody to just unite and focus on one another, not on ourselves.”

“Understanding the importance that just because somebody has a different point of view, that it's okay, so let's make it work. Let's find a way. It's really about not being judgmental, but about loving.”

Reverend Dave is played by David A.R. White, who has starred in all three movies. In addition to bringing people together, White says a common thread of the series is giving people an impetus to ponder their own relationship with God.

“My hope in bringing these projects, ultimately, is that it would uplift and inspire the human spirit. One of our statements of faith has always been to bring people to higher levels of insight to who God is and the purpose that he has for their lives.”

While this purpose may not be saving a church against all odds, the God's Not Dead makers want everyone to take away their own meaning and, one by one, turn the darkness into light.
