For the second consecutive year, during this week there will be a tent hospital next to St. Peter's. It is to commemorate the World Day of the Poor, on Sunday 18 November.

It will provide free assistance to people in need until ten o'clock in the evening. There will be doctors specialized in cardiology, dermatology, rheumatology, gynecology, as well as oculists and podiatrists.

In addition, on Sunday the pope will celebrate a Mass for the homeless in St. Peter's Basilica. Afterwards, he will have lunch with about three thousand of them in the Vatican. A lunch provided by the Hilton Hotel in Rome.

During World Day of the Poor, the pope wants to preach by example and encourage people to ask themselves 'what they do to alleviate poverty?'

In fact, in many other cities there are similar events; and they do not just only help the poor, but have a celebration with them.

This year's motto is “This poor man called out, and the Lord heard him.” Pope Francis has asked for an examination of conscience as to whether or not one has heard the cry of the needy.
