The Catholic Church has begun the time of preparation for Christmas.

From St. Peter's Square, during the Angelus prayer, the pope offered advice. He said Advent is a perfect period to abandon selfish ways of life that in fact chain down and deplete a person.

POPE FRANCIS
'This Sunday's Gospel goes precisely in that direction and puts us on-guard against being oppressed by an egocentric lifestyle or the convulsive rhythm of the day. This exhausts, bores, and closes one to hope.'

Before the 20,000 pilgrims present in St. Peter's Square, the Pope said that thinking too much about one's problems has a risk: that of forgetting others.
