In the Paul VI Audience Hall there is a new nativity scene. At first the pope only got a quick glance.

Later, after the catechesis, he went to see it up close.

It is a Christmas manger from Tamaulipas, Mexico. Governor Francisco García Cabeza of Vaca brought it to the pope and introduced his family.

“What is your name? Rocio.

And what is his name? Pope Francis.”

He also gifted him several artisanal crafts.

“From the artisans, made with their own hands for you. It's tamalipeca leather.”

The tree of the great audience hall was also decorated with crafts from Tamaulipas.

It adds a Latin touch, in the heart of the Vatican.
