Pope Francis prayed the Angelus from the Apostolic Palace window, before leaving for his trip to United Arab Emirates.

This week in St. Peter's Square the children of Rome's Catholic Action came with their “Peace Caravan.” They are celebrating their 50th anniversary.

During his speech, the pope asked the international community to help resolve the armed conflict in Yemen. It has caused a humanitarian crisis for the entire population.

POPE FRANCIS
“Let us pray hard. There are children who are starving, who are thirsty, who have no medicines and are in danger of dying. Let us all take this thought home with us.”

Afterward, Pope Francis passed the microphone to these two children from Catholic Action. They wanted to promote the need for peace in the world.

In his catechesis, the pope reflected on the Gospel passage for Sunday. He said the people in Nazareth expected miracles from Jesus to prove He is the Messiah. For this reason, they reacted badly when He explained God's logic with the story of the prophets Elijah and Elisha.

POPE FRANCIS
“God wants faith, they want miracles and signs. God wants to save everyone, and they want a Messiah for their own advantage.”

Pope Francis stressed that the Church needs people dedicated to serving others. Those who follow the logic of faith and hope rather than seek miracles.

Before leaving, the pope made a personal request to the people present.

POPE FRANCIS
“In less than an hour, I will begin my short, but important trip to United Arab Emirates. Please pray for me. May you all have a good Sunday.”

The pope's journey to United Arab Emirates is his second trip this year. It is an important visit as the pope is attending an inter-religious meeting. He hopes to strengthen ties with the Muslim community.
