LIVE: Pope visits Velletri prison for Holy Thursday

On Holy Thursday, to remember the day Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper and washed the feet of his disciples, Pope Francis is visiting Velletri prison in Rome.

He will say Mass commemorating the Last Supper and then meet with detainees, civil personnel, and Penitentiary Police officers. He will wash the feet of 12 detainees as part of the Eucharistic celebration.

This is the fifth time he has chosen to break the tradition of celebrating in a traditional basilica by visiting a prison.
