LIVE: pope meets priests, religious and their families in North Macedonia

Before returning to Rome, Pope Francis holds a final meeting with priests, religious and their families.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. Rome time.

Catholics in North Macedonia are a minority; they do not even reach 1% while Orthodox are over 60%.

The meeting takes place in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, built in 1977. The previous building could not withstand the earthquake of 1963.

During the meeting, the pope will listen to the testimonies of a priest and a nun. He will also give his last speech in the country.

Before leaving, Pope Francis will bless the first stone for a future shrine of St. Paul.
