LIVE: Pope visits Mauritius' president and speaks to the country's authorities


Pope Francis visits the Presidential Palace in Mauritius. There he is received by President ad-interim, Barlen Vyapoory. The previous president resigned in 2018 after a financial scandal. 

The pope will also meet Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, who will introduce him to his wife Kobita Ramdanee, as well as their three children.

Together they will then go to the Presidential Palace where Pope Francis will deliver his speech to political and civil authorities as well as diplomatic corps. 

Before leaving, the pope will bless some trees in the garden.
