Hugo Dávila is a Guatemalan priest. He works with adolescents and knows the great potential new technology can have to help them grow in their relationship with God.
Thus, with a knowledge of electronics, he decided to design an application called LinkBFF, short for “Link Best Friends Forever.”

“What really caught my attention was how very good young people could quickly lose God. All of a sudden they ended up losing themselves to the pleasures of the world, etc., or they simply stopped believing. Some of my priest friends and I started brainstorming on possible ways to rekindle young people's interest in Jesus. Of course, the obvious response was to teach them to pray.”
Besides offering texts and audio inspiration to help with personal prayer, the application creates challenges to help participate in other spiritual practices, like praying the rosary or reading the Gospel. It also has a very useful section that prepares the user for spiritual direction.

“The application's purpose is to connect with Jesus. Hence the name: LinkBFF. Its logo shows two shaking hands, one with a small circle representing Jesus' hand, the other representing the hand of the person who meets Jesus. How? Through prayer.”
The application is on its third update. It is available in Spanish, French and English. According to its designer, it has been popularly received by young people.

“In general the response has been really good. The testimonies of growing closer to God are fantastic. I hope we get more stories of people who grow closer to God thanks to the app. Or at least that they find Jesus, which is the ultimate goal of the app. The goal is for people to connect with their true best friend, Jesus.”
While he works on possible updates inspired by user suggestions, Fr. Hugo continues to think of new projects in the world of new technology to continue to lead people to God.
