LIVE: Extraordinary Urbi et Orbi for end of pandemic

The pope will lead an extraordinary prayer for the end of the pandemic. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., at St. Peter's.

Pope Francis will give a homily reflecting on a Gospel reading chosen specifically for the occasion.

He will also pray before the Salus Populi Romani, patroness of Rome, and before the crucifix of St. Marcellus.

Afterward, there will be a moment of Eucharistic adoration. The event will conclude with the Urbi et Orbi blessing, which is reserved for extraordinary occasions.
