Fabrizio Giaconella is a college student from Rome. He is part of 'Visionari,' the first Italian center that unites creatives to develop technological projects with a high social impact.

One of them is the “COVID-19 PHASE 2 Project.” It prints 3D visors to distribute them to citizens and help them transition into post-pandemia in the best possible way.

“The visor is made up of two parts. The first part is a 3D printed headband, it is made of P.L.A. or T.P.U., although other materials can also be used. The second part is this acetate sheet found in any stationery, the lace is made and is put together.”

Visionari began donating these visors to doctors, nurses, pharmacists and citizens, but also to merchants who started reopening their businesses.

These are practical and washable devices which reduce the risk of contagion.

'These visors prevent the spread of coronavirus through drops of saliva or sweat. We donate them for free. Although we cannot consider them medical-sanitary devices, since we do not have the certification.”

Fabrizio explains this project stems from the need of young people to work and act in the face of one of the most difficult moments in the history of Italy.

“There are those who create things or collaborate to put their studies into practice. We need to study, it is fundamental. It is up to us (young people) to recover from this economic crisis in the next 10 or 20 years.”

At the moment, Fabrizio and other young people from “Visionari,” hope to manufacture 100,000 visors to combat the spread of the pandemic. They even offer the possibility to others who want to help through visionari.org
