During the Mass on the Solemnity of Christ the King, in St. Peter's Basilica, the young Panamanians handed over the World Youth Day Cross to the Portuguese youth.

Also, during the ceremony, it was announced that the pope moved the celebration of the diocesan youth days from Palm Sunday to the Solemnity of Christ the King.

Since John Paul II called young people to these meetings 36 years ago, this wooden Cross has accompanied the preparations of the editions, traveling to all continents. In 2003 the image of the Salus Populi Romani, the patron saint of Rome, was added.
