Mr. John Martinez, how can I help you?

“Lady of Guadalupe” is a story of faith, hope, and love that spans 500 years.

It recounts the lives of John Martinez, journalist based in present-day Los Angeles, and Juan Diego, the indigenous peasant to whom the Virgin Mary appeared in 1531.

Pedro Brenner is the film's writer and director. He says that telling these two stories in parallel highlights the Lady of Guadalupe's enduring message of hope.

So by putting the story in modern-day, it makes the past relevant and makes people connect and understand that it's been five centuries but things haven't really really changed for people who are struggling, but the thing that has been present in the past five centuries has been the presence and the message of hope of the miracle story.

Que la Virgen, that she protects you, and takes care of you and protects you. Take care.

Front and center is a dual performance by actor Guillermo Ivan, who plays both of the film's leading protagonists, John Martinez and Juan Diego.

He shines, like he really is a fantastic actor, I hope that the world is able to discover that, it's so powerful. He has this sense and sensitivity towards crowds and is really just a fantastic guy.

“Lady of Guadalupe” tells the history of the Latino community, but it is also an opportunity for Latino representation both on the screen and behind the scenes.

This movie, my friend, is produced, written, directed, and executive produced by Latinos. First of all that's something to be proud of, but at the same time it's also a token to say that look Latinos can do this easily, like there should be more content like this, there should be more positions where Latinos have some representations in Hollywood.
