If the Covid-19 pandemic doesn’t worsen, this scene will repeat itself at the Vatican on Thursday.

President of Argentina Alberto Fernández is scheduled to visit Pope Francis on Thursday, as part of a trip to Europe that will include stops at Lisbon, Madrid and Paris.

The Argentine press reports that the president hopes the trip will help reduce tensions within his government.

It will be the second time the leaders meet, and the first since Argentina legalized abortion, one of President Alberto Fernández’s controversial campaign promises.

He also wants to thank the Pope for his support during negotiations with the International Monetary Fund regarding a debt of about $40 billion.

This Friday, Argentina’s Economy Minister will attend a meeting at the Vatican with other ministers and Kristalina Georgieva, director of the International Monetary Fund.
