Cardinal Becciu will be prosecuted for subornation, embezzlement and abuse of office.

The trial against Cardinal Angelo Becciu will begin on July 27. Charges against him include embezzlement, abuse of office in complicity with others and subornation.

In September 2020, Pope Francis asked him to resign from his duties and rights as Cardinal, but he did allow him to keep the title.

The Vatican court will prosecute Cardinal Becciu along with nine others implicated in the illicit use of reserve funds of the Secretariat of State.

The Vatican prepared this note with details of the trial.
