Pope Francis' medical report from July 12 at 12pm

His Holiness Pope Francis spent a quiet day and completed the post-operative recovery program.

In order to best optimize medical and rehabilitation therapy, the Holy Father will remain hospitalized for a few more days.

Yesterday, before praying the Angelus, he met with some young patients from the nearby oncology ward and their family members, who then accompanied him on the balcony of the tenth floor for the Marian prayer.

At the end of the prayer, he greeted the patients who are hospitalized on the same floor, chatting briefly with the medical and nursing staff.

In the afternoon he celebrated Holy Mass in the private chapel with the staff who assists him on a daily basis.

To share in the joy of the victories of Argentina and Italy's national teams, His Holiness dwelt on the importance of sports and their values, and on the ability to be able to accept any result, even defeat: “only in that way can one face life's challenges, fighting without giving up, with hope and confidence.”
