Pope Francis celebrates Mass in the GPS, the Pancyprian Gymnastic Stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus.

It's the largest stadium in the country. It can seat about 22,000 people for sporting events.

The outdoor spaces available for the Mass are limited because of pandemic restrictions.

Cyprus is part of the Holy Land. That's why the welcome of the Pope is the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who leads the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land.

This entity is similar to a bishops' conference. It includes the ordinaries of Latin and Eastern Rites from Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus and the Custody of the Holy Land.
