The magazine Civiltà Cattolica has published the details of Pope Francis' private meeting with Jesuits in Kazakhstan.

In the dialogue, Pope Francis revealed that a Ukrainian military chief asked for help to speed up an exchange of more than 300 prisoners. In response, the Pope immediately began working with the Russian ambassador.

Pope Francis said that it is still not time for him to visit Ukraine and asked that the conflict not be reduced to a war between good guys and bad guys. In fact, he reflected on a point that a head of state made to him— that NATO had been provoking Russia months before the war.

Still, Pope Francis regretted that many accused him of defending Russia, forgetting the many times he spoke out against the invasion, including the attack on Darya Dugina. She was the daughter of Putin's collaborator, Alexander Dugin.

I think of a poor girl blown into the air by a bomb that was under the seat of the car in Moscow.

The Pope's private meeting was with 19 Jesuits residing in the Russian region.
