The plane which the Pope has been traveling since November 27 took off from Beirut International Airport at 1:48PM local time, bound for Fiumicino Airport, in Rome.

Before boarding, Pope Leo XIV delivered a brief speech in which he reviewed some of the most memorable moments of his journey. He once again expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received from the Lebanese people.


The Pope took advantage of his final minutes in the Lebanon to make one last appeal for peace in the Middle East.


With these images you are seeing on screen, the first apostolic journey of Pope Leo XIV came to an close—a six-day trip in which he visited Turkey and Lebanon under the motto: “Blessed are those who work for peace.
