Seeing history through pictures-that's the purpose of this photo exhibit. It traces the diplomatic relationship between Cuba and the Holy See. It's a relationship that's had its ups and downs, but in the last two decades, there have been key moments that have defined their ties.

'There's the meeting between Fidel Castro and John Paul II and well as meetings with different cardinals. Then there's the Pope's visit to Cuba. The Mass he celebrated in Santiago, Camaguey and of course there's also Benedict XVI's visit and his Mass in Santiago and La Habana.â?

Cuba's embassy decided to organize the exhibit in a local Roman parish, since 2014 marks 79 years since both states established diplomatic relations.

Despite the line of tension between the Communist island and the Catholic Church, improvements have been made. The Cuban Embassy to the Holy See, says it's looking forward to what the future brings.
