American film 'The Letters' wins best actress and director award of Catholic 'Oscars'

The Spanish film 'A Forbidden God� won the Silver Fish Award for best film at the International Catholic Film Festival 'Mirabile Dictu.�

Based on true events, it tells the martyrdom of 51 religious at the dawn of the Spanish Civil War.

Pablo Moreno directs this faithful portrait of how Spanish villages like Barbastro lived the early days of this conflict.

Its main actor, Iñigo Etayo, was also nominated for the Silver Fish Award for his portrayal of seminarian Ramon Illa Novich.

But in the end, British actress Juliet Stevenson won the award for her role as Mother Teresa of Calcutta in the American production of 'The Letters.� The movie shows the most difficult moments of the Blessed and how she founded the Missionaries of Charity.

It wasn't the only award given to this film. Its director, William Riead, was also awarded a Silver Fish for best director.

With these awards, the International Catholic Film Festival 'Mirabile Dictu�, commonly known as the Catholic 'Oscars,' concluded their fifth edition.
